I’ve just returned from an unscheduled but rewarding trip to Lima in Peru where I met with Omandro Santiago to discuss an opportunity to show his paintings and sculpture at a new gallery in Whitstable. Most of his work is related in some way to seafood and especially oysters, which makes Whitstable the obvious location.
While I was away, Tru80s played at The Rose & Crown in Knutsford, a successful and enjoyable evening by all accounts. This was the first time at this venue but more opportunities to perform there are in the pipeline – see the schedule. It’s a smart town-centre pub with restaurant and accommodation, and well worth a visit.
In terms of the number of gigs, it’s been a relatively quiet start to 2026 with just 3 between the start of the year and March 13th. March 14th sees the beginning of the gigging season proper, with 3 in March and 4 in April, and 27 for the rest of the year, with power to add. To paraphrase Henry Duncharn the football manager, “It’s a set of two halves and we’ll give it 110%”.
Having not seen the band perform for a while, I’m keen to listen to new songs recently added and I know more are being rehearsed. Maybe I’ll pop along to The Fox & Hounds in Cheswardine on the 14th. Brian will entertain us, that’s for sure!
