Brian

Brian is the epicentre of the Tru80s live experience; singer and focus of audience engagement. He brings years of experience as both a drummer and vocalist for a number of bands in the north-west of England including Frozen Spoiler Alert, The Paint Shop Boys and most notably The LWT, best known for their 2009 self-released EP, One Swallow Doesn’t Make A Summer.

Brian was first choice for vocal duties when Vinnie first conceived of what has becomeTru80s.

Vinnie

A highly-experienced keyboard player, programmer, composer and producer, Vinnie has collaborated with numerous musicians in the north-west of England and further afield, often with a focus on progressive and ambient music, and using a combination of live performance and sequencing, some scripted and some improvised.

Amongst others, Vinnie has worked with 12.3 Metres, The Heavenly Bridle, Lady Astor’s Theologian and more recently Third Quadrant and Monkey Trial.

Tru 80s is Vinnie’s concept and its captain.

Spike

Spike plays guitar and supporting keyboards.

A veteran of collaborations with Kentish progressive outfit Mechromantix, known for their project concept The Wicker Man, a commentary on the impact of early industrial enterprise in 1770s Coalbrookdale and its’ parallels with greed and environmental damage in the 21st century.

Other projects include The Timeball Tower, Ambilopia, The Yellow Thresher and solo compositions as Crazy Barista.

During the pandemic Spike collaborated with Vinnie and The North Of England Jam Sponge Orchestra to produce the electro/orchestral/choral suite Tide At The Bottom Of The Garden Wall by Dr ToppleOppleOv And The Theatre Of Radical Thought.

Lucine

Lucine rarely misses a gig and is an invaluable part of the band, being a close relative of Vinnie. She provides support and critique for the three musical protagonists as well as often being the first to shake a leg, inspiring others to do the same.

Other invaluable contributions are as lighting and effects engineer and renumeration administrator.
